Studies on Urinary Excretion of Indigo Carmine Injected into Lunbar Subarachnoid Space in Head Injured Patients.

Abstract
|
|
|
The amount of Indigo carmine excretion in urine of the acute and chronic head injured patients after lumbar subarachnoid space injection was analyzed quantitatively for 5 hours with following results.
1. It was determined that the amount (4㎎∼8㎍/dl) of Indigo carmine could be analyzed quantitatively in urine by the method of spectrophotometry using Antiformin as a discolorant.
2. The rate of the excretion of Indigo carmine in urine was much higher in acute cases than chronic and control cases.
3. The amount of Indigo carmine was maximally detected in the urine of two hours after injection, and the appearance of the dye in urine gradually decreased thereafter.
